Executive Director,

Educator Advancement Council

State of Oregon

In 2017, a pioneering Oregon State Legislature created Oregon’s Educator Advancement Council (EAC) and in so doing, codified a dream that had been years in the making.  Now seven years old, the EAC is a coalition of educators, leaders, community partners and state agencies who work towards building a statewide professional learning and educator support system that aspires to catapult Oregon’s education system to the forefront of public education.

Based in our state capital of Salem, and with tentacles that reach every corner of Oregon, the EAC has already begun to impact professional learning P-20 statewide. Today the EAC directs the use of state resources for initiatives that aim to help Oregon achieve high-quality, well-supported, and culturally responsive educators in every classroom. EAC’s leadership works closely with the governor’s office, the state Department of Education, legislative offices and state agencies in support of these aims.

We now seek our next Executive Director to lead us into our next chapter.  Our new Executive Director will bring an instructional background coupled with demonstrated accomplishments in policy and leadership, as well as an inexorable belief in the power of coalitions to create systemic change.

We are highly interested in individuals who bring work or lived experience with culturally, linguistically, and/or racially diverse communities.  Our interest is in finding the best candidate for the job, and that candidate may come from a less traditional background. If this is a role that entices you, and one in which you are confident of your ability to lead, we would encourage you to apply, even if you don’t believe you meet every one of our qualifications described.

The Executive Director of EAC is an Oregon PERS-covered role with a salary range of 118k-183k. Our vacancy will remain open through May 11, and confidential inquiries to Hank Harris are welcome.
